Disney Marathon Weekend

I want to run the Disney Marathon. They're taking registrations now for the 2009 race but i cannot quite cover the fee just yet. Who is gonna come watch me race? Its going start at EPCOT and then go through the rest of the parks to finish right back at EPCOT. There's even a family waiting area at the end with live entertainment. I have to run a couple more races this year so i can get a better starting place and not get stuck waaaay at the back.

Boston Marathon!

A quick trip to the library today turned into several hours of prowling and growling in Copley Square which appears to be either the end point or a refueling area for the Boston Marathon on monday. Sadly i have class and work to do so i won't be out cheering the newbies on but i'll try to keep track of the runners online. Bleachers and spectator bridges are being erected all along the roads and several ginormous tents are up in front of Trinity Church. Lots of sponsors were already out enforce with their swag. And i'm not one to say no to free stuff! So i wandered around the square collecting Adidas dog tags and Saturn keychains and all manner of things to collect dust. There were a lot of people milling about wearing gear from previous marathons. I'm aiming to be in good enough shape to run it next year but for now i've got my eyes set on the easier half marathons that occur all around the city in the coming months.

Oh Hai

You can find all kinds of disturbing things on the internet. Including sexy drawings of your favorite Disney princes posing as underwear models.

Why helloooooo there Prince Eric. How /you/ doin?

And Aladdin! I can show you a whooole neeeew woooorld. Ifyouknowwhatimeanithinkyoudo.

My my my this is so inappropriate. But refreshing to see it is cartoon men being objectified rather than their princess counterparts, no?

Having way too much fun.

:D

FINALLY!

My eyes welled up with tears of JOY after finding this. I've told my parents so many times how much i love those signs and would they please pull over so i could take a picture. Always denied that simple pleasure i was. But this poster makes up for it.

I Get It From My Momma

The tales of a certain Lt. Rodriguez in my household are legend. Lt. Rodriguez was caught outside nekkid during a fire drill. Lt. Rodriguez fell asleep under a tree during guard duty. Lt. Rodriguez went the wrong way and wandered into a known infested tick field. Its that last story that makes me feel that i am my mother's daughter. I am forever getting lost. It doesn't matter where i go and how good my directions are: I'm going to get lost. Count on it.

Which brings me to this morning. I got up early enough and mentally psyched myself up for the race. Printed up directions and stomped out the door. The train station that i got out at was about 2 miles away from the event location. No big deal, that's an easy hike. So i started walking. And couldn't find any of the streets on the map i had printed. So i walked to an intersection, didn't recognize it, and walked back. And finally i phoned a friend who managed to look up the correct route and told me to go back to where i had turned around. Gah. So already i walked an extra mile. I made it to the starting line with only 5 minutes to spare. What should have been an easy warm up to a 5 mile run ended up being a 3 mile power walk/jog in the cold. And then we have the run itself. Which killed me. There were hills. HILLS! And a wind that swept over the water and tried to knock me silly. And then it started to rain.

I finished my run in about an hour and 15 minutes. Then limped the 2 miles back to the train station.

Naturally as soon as i got home i took a shower and crawled into bed. And i haven't moved since.

When i grow up i want to be President

Or a fighter pilot. President Roslin and Lt. Starbuck are the most bad ass women to grace my television set these days. They are awesome. I never bothered to watch Battlestar Galactica before because, frankly, i don't have the time or energy to devote to serial tv shows anymore. But because Friday is the season premier of BSG season 4, Alicia delivered unto me 2.5 seasons of the show and strict instructions to watch it all before her get together on Friday. So i fired up the ole dvd player and settled down to watch. And i love it. LOVE IT. I don't normally like space going shows (Firefly was more of a western!) but i can usually overcome my distaste for fission plates and nuclear reactors by strong female characters and well written story lines. In fact the only Star Trek show i watched was ST:Voyager because they had a female MEXICAN KLINGON as the chief engineer. A Mexican Klingon named Be'lanna Torres. Really how could i resist something like that?

As far as bad ass females go my last favorite died back in 2001. Poor Xena. She died horribly.

But little did i know she would be brought back to my tv as a CYLON (bad robot) in Battlestar. Oh the excitement!

In other exciting news i darned a hole in my sock this week instead of throwing it away. It looks pretty good. Aren't i turning into such a domestic goddess?
